One of the very first questions we are always asked when people hear about our product is, what’s better about yours? What is it about your product that makes it so successful in helping people?
Well first and most importantly we chose the proper strains of probiotic bacteria. We researched literally hundreds of probiotic strains before deciding on the 5 symbiotic strains(E. faecium M74®, L. paracasei F19®, Bif. Bifidum, L. acidophilus, L. casei)we now use. We selected these strains because they met all of our criteria; to improve digestion, reduce constipation, support the immune system, as well as help in the prevention of GI Tract related allergies and other bowel disorders.
Strain selection however is of no importance if they cannot survive. One of the hurdles technology has had to overcome is in bringing positive results from the lab to the public. Much focus, and rightly so has been placed on probiotic survival; from the lab to the consumer, and then throughout the GI tract. No matter how beneficial a microorganism has proven to be; if it cannot survive transportation, storage and intestinal transit, you the consumer will not see the desired benefits.
To insure our probiotics survive we; protect them from heat, encapsulate them in oil, and seal the capsule using our Nitrogen Purge Instant Bond Technology (patent pending) protecting them from damage caused by heat, oxygen, and moisture exposure.
Most probiotic supplements are not sealed in nitrogen and suffer from exposure to oxygen. Bifidobacteria are extremely sensitive to oxygen. In fact one of the prominent manufacturers we initially discussed our product development with; advised us not to add more than 10% Bifidobacteria to our formula because “they would die anyways”. Needless to say we did not use that manufacturer rather we employed an encapsulation process that would protect the probiotic bacteria from oxygen ensuring their survival.
As mentioned earlier probiotic bacteria are extremely sensitive to heat, oxygen and moisture. High temperatures will kill any probiotic bacteria no matter how hardy they are. Each probiotic bacteria is sensitive to oxygen but of course some are more sensitive than others and die from to much oxygen exposure. Finally moisture and humidity play a huge factor in the survival of probiotic microorganisms.
In order to keep the beneficial bacteria alive until consumption most probiotic microorganisms are freeze dried which puts them in to a sort of hibernation until they are exposed to moisture and wake up again. The problem with this technique is that when they are exposed to too much moisture while in the capsule they die.
So how does this affect you? Well imagine you have just purchased a new bottle of probiotics, all is well and the probiotics have survived all the way to your refrigerator. You open the bottle and take your first capsule; moisture from the air rushes in and fills the bottle, you put the bottle back in the refrigerator and repeat day after day. After some time the moisture level in the capsules begin to rise, the probiotics wake up and they die because they are not in your GI Tract. You continue to take the probiotics and wonder why they don’t work; unknowingly to you it is because you are taking well documented, well researched, unfortunately dead strains of probiotics.
To prevent our probiotic bacteria from succumbing to this same fate we encapsulated them in high antioxidant rice oil. Moisture is repelled rather than absorbed by the oil and the contents of the capsule are protected from moisture exposure.
Through refrigeration, oil encapsulation, and the patent pending Nitrogen Purge Instant Bond Technology our probiotic bacteria are protected from heat, moisture and oxygen exposure; allowing them to continually provide health benefits to you.
Finally once the probiotic bacteria reach the GI Tract they are active and ready to go. They have survived the journey and are ready to begin doing their job. Last but not least they come packaged with FOS - Fructo-oligosaccharides and rice oil which both act as prebiotics (beneficial food supply) to allow them to continue their work at peak performance.
